Chemical Dependency Outpatient Clinics

Niagara Falls: (716) 278-8110
Lockport: (716) 433-3846

The Council’s Outpatient Clinics provide interdisciplinary treatment to individuals and families affected by chemical dependency and other addictions.  The clinics are licensed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance abuse Services (OASAS).  Service locations include Niagara Falls (NF) , Lockport (LKPT) and a site-specific location at New Directions Wyndham Lawn Campus. All services are confidential, as governed by NYS OASAS and federal confidentiality laws. Services are covered by most insurances; sliding scale self-pay fees are available for individuals not covered by insurance.

Counseling Services are provided in individual, family and group settings.  Separate treatment tracks have been developed for special populations, including women, Native Americans, dually diagnosed individuals (MICA), African Americans, and the criminal justice, young adult, and adolescent populations.

Family and Couples Counseling Services are available for individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drugs of abuse.  Family services provide an overview of the treatment and recovery process.  The Council also offers a state -of-the-art treatment model for couples in conjunction with a leading national research team. Through Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT), couples learn sobriety together. BCT is a structured, evidence based family treatment for alcoholism and drug abuse, treating addicted patients together with their spouse or co-habitating partner to build support for abstinence and to improve relationship functioning. BCT includes training in life skills to support the addicted individual’s sobriety, improve marital satisfaction, and enhance communication and negotiation skills.

Criminal Justice System Component
The Council’s interdisciplinary treatment programs provide services to many individuals who are either referred or engaged by some component of the criminal justice system,. Referrals from local county probation departments, Federal Probation, NYS Parole, local police agencies and attorneys are a main part of the criminal justice system network served by the Council’s programs.

Northpointe Council has been an integral member of the regions drug court treatment team, providing innovative and viable alternatives to incarceration for chemically dependant clients appearing before the court.

FAMILY HEALTH STUDY
The Northpointe Council Inc. is working with Old Dominion University on a Family Health Study which is being funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA).

The study looks at whether individual treatment or couples treatment is best for reducing alcohol or drug use. If you qualify for the study, you would receive either 12 free sessions of individual treatment and 12 free sessions of group counseling OR 12 free sessions of couples treatment and 12 free sessions of group counseling. Both treatments focus on helping you reduce substance use. In individual treatment, you would attend by yourself; in couples treatment you would attend with your partner. Either way, you would receive 24 free sessions of treatment from the Northpointe Council Inc.

If you participate in the study, you, your partner, and one of your children would be asked to complete a series of questionnaires before you start treatment, right after you finish treatment, and again 6-months after you finish treatment. You and your partner would be asked about your relationship and substance use history. Your child would be asked about his or her behavior and feelings.

The first time you participate, you, your partner, and your child will each receive $30.00 for a total of $90.00 per family before treatment. The second time your family participates, you, your partner, and your child will each recieve $50.00, for a total of $150.00 per family after treatment. The last time that your family participates, you, your partner, and your child, will recieve $50.00, for a total of $150.00 per family at the last assessment. If you, your family and your child all participate, you could earn up to $390.00 total.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Even if you decided to participate, you can change your mind at any time.
