CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM COMPONENT

The Northpointe Council, Inc. interdisciplinary treatment programs provide services to many individuals who are either referred or engaged by some component of the Criminal Justice System. Referrals from local county probation departments, Federal Probation, New York State Parole, local police agencies and attorneys are a major part of the Criminal Justice System network served by the Council's programs.

Within the last few years the Northpointe Council, Inc. has been an integral member of the region's drug court treatment team providing innovative and viable alternatives to incarceration for chemically dependent clients appearing before the court.

Besides drug courts, the Council is a source of information, treatment alternatives, client support, assessments, toxicology screening and case management services for individuals referred from the Niagara and Erie County Probation Departments and Federal Probation. In conjunction with the Eighth Judicial District the Council provides expanded jail-based programming for inmates referred from the region's drug courts. These services include vocational assessment and referrals to post incarceration job placement.

In addition to referrals from regional parole offices in Buffalo and Rochester, the Council's Criminal Justice Component provides services to parolees referred from the Willard Drug Treatment Center by New York State Parole. This population receives intensified and expanded chemically dependent services.

Staff are available to provide in-service training and chemical dependency information to the various Criminal Justice System components on an ongoing basis.
